Thus piece captures a macaw in the moment of lift, where motion and color take over.  Built through directional brushwork, each stroke follows the movement of the wings creating a sense of upward force and momentum.  This was a part 2 acrylic study and my first piece in Acrylic.  Once completed, I chose to add a small amount of oil glaze and detail to pull the Macaw forward, giving it that beautif

This piece was created as part of a directional mark-making study, focusing on using brushstrokes to create movement and flow.  The sea turtle is carried through a layered current of color, with each mark helping guid the eye and build energy throughout the composition.  Painted in oils on a pre-blackened canvas, allowing the color and light to stand out against the dark background.

This piece was created as an early study  in monochromatic underpainting, focusing on value, form and feather detail. The composition captures a quiet moment of a pelican at rest, Using layered brushwork to build texture and depth.
